Funding local health inequality initiatives

Current Priorities

Some of the areas being considered by our trustees can be seen in the boxes below

Eyesight and Hearing

This area continues to be of interest – Eyesight and hearing clinics/free spectacles and hearing aids; repairs to glasses and maintenance of hearing aids.

Oral Health

There continues to be disparities around oral hygiene, education and access to dentists.

Healthy Weight

The impacts of eating well and our food environment has a big impact here alongside education, physical activity and social connectivity

Mental Health and Young People

This is an increasing area of concern. Many young people are on a waitlist for anxiety and depression. Leading to school exclusion, family tensions and isolation.

Vaccine Access

Vaccine uptake for many diseases and illnesses is low and whilst information good and bad travels through social media, serious illnesses are spiking

Bereavement

Grief can be overwhelming and can happen at any time when you have lost someone. The impact of death even if it occurred a long time ago can have lasting effects.

Child Development

Children’s nourishment and child socialisation including pre-and post-natal support for for expectant parents and their babies.

Addiction Issues

Alcohol misuse, drugs and other forms of addictive behaviours such as gambling.

Mental Health

Including clinical depression and isolation. Prevention activities may range from physical activity to helping with anger management or lack of self-worth.
